Pre-requisite: Open to psychiatry residents PGY2 and above, open to family medicine and internal medicine residents PGY2 and above with approval

Educational Objective

To provide the trainee with a full spectrum outpatient rural psychiatry experience. 

Experiences and Procedures

  • Our practice consists of one psychiatrist and two nurse practitioners embedded in the internal medicine office. This provides a unique opportunity to collaborate closely with primary care.  
  • Full spectrum rural psychiatry practice.  
  • Participate in weekly co-occurring substance use disorder clinic and SMI clinic. 
  • Participate in outpatient ECT.
  • Opportunity to work with behavioral health nurse navigator to assess patients in the ER and inpatient setting.

Housing

On-site housing is offered at no cost to the learner at the Dixon House, when space is available. If space is not available at the Dixon House, then the resident may request funds from MERGE to reimburse for housing in Farmington, per the MERGE housing policy.
