Pre-requisite: Open to PGY 3 or 4 OBGYN residents or Family Medicine residents with a passion for women’s health and who have performed >30 obstetrical deliveries.

Educational Objective

To provide the GME learner with clinical experience in a rural, full scope, OBGYN practice.

Experiences and Procedures

  • Our practice, which consists (currently) of 3 OBGYN physicians and 3 CNM providers, is committed to providing evidence-based quality care; advancing education of health care providers ,including residents and medical students.
  • We will provide surgical opportunities each week in addition to a resident-based outpatient schedule 4 days per week, which would include: contraception management, gynecological consultation, and obstetrical care.
  • The resident would be required to participate in a department-wide monthly discussion of high-risk obstetrical patients.
  • The on-call requirement would be 2 days per week and 1 weekend per month, within the ACGME requirements.

  • Elective Educational Objective: To provide the GME learner with clinical experience in care of older adults in a primary care setting, with a particular focus on the diagnosis and management of cognitive impairment. Rotation will include Clinical experience working with patients and families affected by common geriatric syndromes (polypharmacy, advanced comorbid illness, falls/frailty, cognitive impairment, etc), as well as experience in promoting wellness in older adults. Residents will perform focused consultation for cognitive impairment/evaluation of dementia.
